FAQs
Can I have an epoxy floor in my bathroom?
1
Yes. Epoxy is an ideal, grout-free solution for bathrooms because it is entirely non-porous and waterproof. For these areas, we recommend a bespoke design partial flake system (such as our Black and Gold Fleck luxury finish) with an added anti-slip topcoat to ensure safety when wet without compromising the high-end aesthetic.
How do I clean an epoxy floor?
2
Epoxy is incredibly low-maintenance. For daily cleaning, a soft broom or microfiber mop is all that is required. For a deeper clean, use a pH-neutral cleaner; avoid harsh acids or citrus-based cleaners which can dull the professional high-gloss finish over time.
I have a period house; can an epoxy floor be installed?
3
Absolutely, but older homes often require a more technical approach. We begin every project in older properties with a digital hygrometer test to check for rising damp. If moisture is present, we install a specialist Epoxy Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) to ensure the new floor does not bubble or fail.
Can you install epoxy over timber floors?
4
Yes, provided the substrate is correctly engineered. We do not apply epoxy directly to floorboards due to natural movement. Instead, we install a rigid subfloor of marine-grade plywood, which is glued and screwed into place to eliminate flex. We then apply a specialist SR1 self-levelling compound to create a glass-flat, stable base ready for the resin finish. This multi-stage process ensures your floor remains crack-free and durable for years
